Un paese diviso da tensioni interne, fra chi guarda all’Europa e chi sente ancora forte l’eredità (e l’attrazione) per la vicina potenza ex sovietica, un paese sottoposto a pressioni politiche internazionali e lacerato all’est da una guerra sempre più dolorosa. In questa sequenza di foto alternate,si evidenziano gli inaspettati parallelismi fra i movimenti  dei militanti del Right Sektor che si allenano in un campo segreto alla periferia della capitale, e i ballerini che animano gli spettacoli notturni nei più conosciuti locali gay di Kiev. Due facce così diverse – ma per altri versi così simili, visto il marcato patriottismo che li accomuna – dell’Ucraina all’alba della guerra. Testi: Federica Tourn

Ukraine, 2014.
A country divided by internal tensions between those who look up to Europe and those who still feel a strong legacy (and attraction) to the neighboring former Soviet power, a country subject to international political pressure and torn in the east by a war more and more painful. In this alternate sequence of photos, we highlight the unexpected parallels between the movements of the militants of the Right Sektor, who train in a secret camp on the outskirts of the capital, and the dancers who animate the night shows in the most popular gay clubs in Kiev. Two sides which are so different – but which also could appear so similar, having seen a strong patriotism uniting them – Ukraine at the down of the war.
